Share of 100 francs to bearer issued in Paris in 1899. Part of the 5,000 shares issue (captal of 500,000 francs).

Beautiful design by Ch. Crabbe showing the progress of the French exploration mission in Africa, going up the Congo and Oubangui towards Egyptian Sudan and the Nile from 1896 to 1899. In competition with the English, the mission Marchand was the first to arrive in Djibouti in 1898 after two years of adventures and 4500 kilometers covered. But France, entangled in the Dreyfus Affair, gives up with surprise in the face of Lord Kitchener who demands the evacuation of the French.

It is one of the attractions of the Universal Exhibition of 1900 where the panorama was painted by the Belgian Panorama painter Castellani, who was a member of the Marchand mission.
