The company was founded in Paris in 1860.

Located near the Stock Exchange and the Théâtre des Variétés, between rue Saint-Marc and boulevard Montmartre, the passage des Panoramas was a reference in terms of covered passages. In 1799, Thayer had two towers built, in which he installed panoramas, a presentation of canvases reproducing entire towns.
