The industrialist Charles Delac, born Chaloum ben Dela, was a film producer and director. He was the director, with Marcel Vandal, of the production company from 1911, Le Film d'art, succeeding Paul Gavault.

The head office of the Société Générale de Cinématographie (SGC) was located at 97 rue de Chézy, Neuilly-sur-Seine.

The purpose of the company was "the purchase, sale, rental of all cinematographic films and, more particularly, the exclusive exploitation in all forms of cinematographic brands known under the name of Film d'Art, Film des Auteurs and Monofilm". The rental contract concluded between Delac et Cie and the Société du Film d’Art was taken over by the S.G.C.

Among the twenty-nine subscribers, we find Edmond Benoit-Lévy, André Calmettes, the French Society of Films and Cinematographers Eclair, Paul Kastor, Charles Delac (majority shareholder, “director of Art Film”).

Charles Delac became president in 1928 of the French Trade Union Chamber of Cinematography, replacing Louis Aubert.

In 1936, he sold the company Le Film d'art to Henri Diamant-Berger.

In 1948, he became president of Films Marceau and bought the production company founded by Adolphe Osso.
