Joseph Besset, industrial coachbuilder, pioneer and father of modern French coaches, founded Etablissements de Carrosserie de Luxe J. Besset.

He set up an industrial body shop and produced his first automobile on a Rolland Pilain chassis.

Besset had to cease its activities in 1951, the company was bought by his partner, Sylvain Floirat, who gave his name to the company.

The company will change its names several times and will become SACA, SAVIEM, Renault Industrial Vehicles, Irisbus-Iveco and since 2013 Iveco Bus.

The industrial epic of Joseph Besset is told at the museum of the charronnage au coach in Vanosc.
