Chantiers de Provence-Aviation, Hydravions A. Bernard
Share of 500F - Paris/Marseille 1924
Signed by A. Bernard
Share to bearer of 500 francs issued in Marseilles in 1924, signed by its founder Adolphe Bernard, French aeronautical engineer (1881-1955).
Adolphe Bernard was one of the great French manufacturers of airplanes and seaplanes (in the same way as René Couzinet or Blériot, Morane and Saulnier, Bréguet, Lioré and Olivier...) and named his machines with his name associated with a number.
The head office of the company was located at 40 Chemin de la Madrague in Marseille, and the General Management, 1 rue Léon-Cladel in Paris (same address as Etablissements Adolphe Bernard, Société de Constructions Mécaniques and L'Industrielle des Métaux et du Bois " Ironwood").
The company had a capital of 2 million francs.
Bernard's first company first took the name of Etablissements Adolphe Bernard, Société de Constructions Mécaniques in 1918, then L'Industrielle des Métaux et du Bois "Ferbois" in 1922. It went bankrupt in 1927 and was renamed Société des avions Bernard (planes). The latter was nationalized in 1935 and later became the MATRA company in 1941.
