Certificate of 50 Shares of $5 each issued in 1913.

The company was incorporated under the laws of New Jersey (commonly called American Marconi)

Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) was an Italian physicist, inventor and businessman. He is considered one of the inventors of wireless radio and telegraphy. In 1899 he succeeded in sending a signal beyond the optical range, across the Channel.

Incorporated in 1899 the American Marconi was a subsidiary of the British Marconi Company (founded in 1897 under the name of The Wireless Telegraph & Signal Company) and held the U.S. and Cuban rights to Marconi's radio (then called "wireless telegraphy") patents. American Marconi initially primarily operated high-powered land and transatlantic shipboard stations. In 1912, it acquired the extensive assets of the bankrupt United Wireless Telegraph Company, becoming the dominant radio communications provider in the United States.

Following Marconi's successful demonstration, the Canadian government commissioned him to build two wireless transmission stations. One must be located in the UK and the other in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. The latter became, in December 1902, the first to send a wireless message from North America to Europe.

Marconi's success at Signal Hill led him to found the Marconi Wireless Telegraphy Company of Canada in 1903. Around this time, he began experimenting with sending nightly news bulletins to ships at sea. In 1912, Marconi's wireless system would allow Titanic's radio operators to announce the sinking of the ship, helping to save lives. In 1925, the company was renamed Canadian Marconi Company.

The share is illustrated by telegraph poles and globes.
