The bond promises to pay the bearer One Hundred Dollars on presentation, with interest determined by the surrender of the attached coupons. Document signed by the Register of the Treasury in Richmond (Virginia), the Confederate capital. Sober and solemn design: central portrait (probably a Confederate soldier or Lucy Pickens, "Queen of the Confederacy", frequently featured on CSA bonds), grey and black border typical of Southern issues, repeated mentions of "100" and "ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS" on the borders.
