Company founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova (1851–1936) in New York. In 1923, it took the name Bulova Watch Company. In 1927, the Bulova Watch Prize was awarded to aviator Charles Lindbergh, the first pilot to fly to Paris from New York non-stop.

Bulova today belongs to a Japanese group.
