Ratier-Forest/GSP (Guillemin Sergot Pégard)
Share of 100F - Paris 1973
Bearer share of 100 francs. Headquarters of the company: 16 rue de la Paix in Paris.
Ratier-Forest was a company specializing in the manufacture of high-end machine tools and certain equipment for aeronautics.
The Ratier-Forest company took control of Ateliers G.S.P. (Guillemin Sergot Pgard) by buying back the shares on the stock exchange in 1973.
Born in Arras, a graduate of Arts et Métiers and the Ecole Centrale de Paris, Henri Guillemin (1872-1925) became a mechanical builder and took over the management of the Traill house in Albert. In 1913, he united the Sergot and Pégard workshops with his own and founded the G.S.P. where he became chairman of the board.
From 1925, the establishments also grouped the Gérony and Leturcq factories under the company name Guillemin Sergot et Pégard, Gérony et Leturcq. It specialized in the manufacture of high-precision machine tools. The company had several factories: Paris, Amiens, Périgueux, Châteaudun, Courbevoie and Albert (Somme). It enjoyed worldwide renown and employed around 420 people in Châteaudun, 600 in Courbevoie and 400 in Albert.
Unfortunately, the merger of the two companies was disastrous. Initially Ratier-Forest G.S.P. was transformed into a holding company controlling three firms: Ratier-Figeac (aeronautical equipment), Forest S.A. (machine tools) and Fonderies de Jeumont. The group went bankrupt in 1979.
