Originally, the Chocolaterie d'Aiguebelle was an activity of the monks of the monastery of Aiguebelle. The Compagnie Chérifienne de Chocolaterie, heir to the ancestral know-how of the monks of the Aiguebelle Abbey, set up factories in Morocco and Algeria in 1942.
