Navy, 1st division of the troop brigade: The Minister of the Navy and Colonies certifies that citizen Nicolas Alphonse Gomela, native of Rouen, department of Seine-Inférieure, entered service as a Fusilier in the former Royal Navy Corps on 29 November 1779, that he was made Corporal on 1 March 1780, Sergeant the following 1 August, and reduced back to Fusilier on 1 March 1783, and that he continued his service in this capacity until 4 June 1784, at which time he was discharged; as recorded in a certificate from the Navy commissioner in charge of the Port of Brest, issued on 14 Frimaire Year 10 (5 December 1801) and filed at the Navy troops office. In witness whereof, this certificate has been issued, valid only once duly stamped. Paris, 24 Nivôse Year 10 (14 January 1802) of the one and indivisible French Republic.
