After the fire at the telephone post in rue Gutenberg in Paris, Ericsson was chosen on recommendations to replace it with the French PTT in 1909. In 1911 is created the French subsidiary of Ericsson, the Société Française des Téléphones Ericsson (French Company of Ericsson Telephones, STE).

The company built a factory in Colombes near Paris in 1912. The company will be listed on the stock exchange in 1966, and four new production plants will be built.
