The site of Passy was chosen in 1921 by two doctors, the American Alexandre Bruno (1889-1953), and the Frenchman Paul Émile Davy (1888-1963), with the agreement of Théophile Vallet, then mayor of Passy. Alexandre Bruno was the author of a thesis on "The role of the Rockefeller mission in the anti-tuberculosis organization in France". In fact, as early as 1916, the French government accepted American aid to fight against raging tuberculosis.

He participated with Doctor Davy in the creation of the Philanthropic Association of High Altitude Sanatorium Villages in 1922.

Doctor François Tobé (1880-1961) joined them in 1928 to found Sancellemoz. It was in this structure that Marie Curie died on July 4, 1934. Doctor Tobé then participated in the creation of the Société Climatérique de Passy which opened the Mont-Blanc sanatorium in 1929.
