The Compagnie Générale des Eaux Minérales de Royat was founded in 1876 by the French banker François Brocard (also founder of the Compagnie de Châtel-Guyon Company and the Compagnie des Eaux Minérales de la Bourboule).

The company was taken over by Rouzaud and Bergougnan (see Caoutchouc Bergougnan action) to form the Compagnie des Eaux Minérales de Royat.
