Firmin Didot (1764-1836) was part of a famous dynasty of printers, responsible in particular for the first stereotype editions, for the typography of assignats issues.
It will also give its name to a typographic unit: the Didot point. In 1881, the family went public under the name of Didot-Bottin, taking over the company from Sébastien Bottin's Almanach du Commerce, founded in 1796.
Today, the Firmin Didot printing press is still in operation, under the control of the CPI group, formerly Didot-Bottin.
