Company founded in 1895 by the Frenchman Léon Suberbie, who was Consul General of Madagascar in Paris. The Compagnie Coloniale et des Mines d’or de Suberbieville et de la Côte Ouest de Madagscar took the name of Compagnie Occidentale de Madagascar in 1902.
