The company was founded in 1921 by forest owners (A. Belliard, J. Bressot-Perrin, C. Cadilhon, A. Fabre, E. Delest, etc.) wishing to add value to their wood by manufacturing kraft paper and sacks packaging.

The company, which still exists under the name of Société Gascogne (68 rue de la papeterie in Mimizan), is today the world leader in natural kraft papers.

There is now an association of Minority Shareholders of Société Gascogne based in Mimizan, whose purpose is to represent the minority shareholders of Société Gascogne.
