Octave Hombert was general secretary and administrator of the Banque de l'Indochine, administrator of the Compagnie du Chemin de Fer Franco-Ethiopien, general manager of the Banque de Union Parisienne.

In 1920, he created the Société Financière Française et Coloniale (SFFC), then the Crédit Foncier de l'Indochine in 1923. Banque Lazard supported him in the creation of the SFFC.

The SFFC is centered on colonial electricity companies (it will introduce the Société Algérienne d'Eclairage et de Force and the Indochinese Electricity on the Paris Stock Exchange). The SFFC also controls the Société Indochinoise des Cultures Tropicales and the Société des Caoutchoucs de l'Indochine.
