Founder's bearer share issued in Béziers in 1922.

The Banque Commerciale et Viticole was founded in Béziers in 1922 with a small capital of 5,000 shares of 500 francs each. Its purpose was to grant loans to winegrowers to finance harvests and wine production. Short-term credit played an important role because of the place held by agriculture in economic life and the multiplicity of small and medium-sized enterprises, but the bank had an ephemeral existence not only because of competition from which opened branches in the provinces, but also following the serious economic crisis which broke out in 1929.

The economic crisis of 1929 got the better of the bank. It is noted that no coupon was distributed.

Very beautiful allegorical illustration.
