Compagnie Atlantique de Navigation Aérienne (CANA)
Share of 500F - Paris 1923
Share to bearer of 500 francs issued in Paris in 1923
Design of an airplane.
Bearer The company's project, founded in 1922, aimed to establish a line of Bordeaux-Lisbon-Casablanca-Dakar seaplanes and a line of light vessels providing the Dakar-Pernambuco (Brazil) link, with the main competitor the Compagnie Générale Aeropostale's Latécoère project. The ambition was also a France (Bordeaux) - South America line.
C.A.N.A. operated only the first regular line to French West Africa (Dakar). After a year of existence, the company having made only 15 flights (carrying 44 passengers), the State refused to renew its subsidy. One of the two planes belonging to the company was destroyed on August 10, 1923 by a tornado in Kefferine (Senegal).
Pierre-Georges Latécoère used all means to destabilize the company, supporting political opposition to its leaders in Bordeaux.
CANA went into liquidation in 1927.
Only 2,500 shares issued in the capital of the company.
