Certificate of 1 Share of 500F (or 408 Mark or 20£) issued in Constantinople 1894. Serie I, with Reichs stamp (Berlin).

The Anatolian Railways Company had for object the construction of railways through the Ottoman Empire. The first railway had been inaugurated in 1866 to connect Smyrna to Aydin. Unable to finance these constructions themselves, the Ottomans appealed to foreign capital by issuing several loans. This company was founded with German capital.

In 1899, Dr. Siemens was chairman of the board. We find his signature on the certificate.

An extension of the concession was obtained in 1903 to extend the railway line. The Baghdadbahn, the Berlin-Baghdad line started in 1903 was completed in 1918.
