The Société des Extraits de Chêne en Russie, a French public limited company with a capital of 2 million francs, established in Paris on 24 April 1899 (articles of association received by Maître Portefin, notary in Paris), operated in Russia the production of oak tanning extracts, an essential raw material for the leather and tanning industry booming during the Belle Époque. The Russian forest, a vast reservoir of oak trees, supplied extract factories used throughout industrial Europe.

This document is a PROVISIONAL CERTIFICATE FOR REGISTERED SHARES of Five Hundred Francs, paid up to One Hundred and Twenty-Five Francs, for TWENTY SHARES, i.e. 10,000 francs nominal (2,500 fr. paid up). Number 19. Made out in the name of "Monsieur Ronchier Albert" residing in Paris, 62 rue Malesherbes. Main date: 10 April 1901. Three payment vouchers at the bottom (2nd quarter 10/04/1901, 3rd quarter 15/10/1901, 4th quarter 12/04/1901) with fiscal stamps. Magnificent finely engraved blue border. Purple company stamp, signatures of two directors. Printed by Charles Skipper & East in Paris.

Apparent condition: very good, fine engraving, well-preserved inks, sharp signatures and fiscal stamps, light fold marks.
