Signed by Paul Cuny (1872-1925), industrialist of the Vosges textilen and politician of the Third Republic Paul Cuny founded in 1896 a cotton mill in Thaon, Paul Cuny et Cie. He created other spinning mills in Roville-devant-Bayon (with Giron as a partner), in Sélestat, in Alsace (Schlestadt mills). He was chairman of the board of directors of the Cheniménil spinning mill and vice-chairman of the Thaon laundry and dyeing factory.

In 1912, with other industrialists, he founded the Cotonnière de Dedovo company, which built a factory in Russia, on the outskirts of Moscow.
