The foudre-wagons were large capacity barrel wagons for the transport of goods. The first tank wagon was built in 1875 by Mr. Lepage, from Epinal and was presented at the Universal Exhibition of 1878. The first lightning wagon appeared on the railway networks from the Midi to Béziers in 1895.
