Le Figaro, a French daily newspaper founded in 1826 by Hippolyte de Vilmessant (1810-1879), is one of the oldest newspapers in the world. Among its most famous editors: Charles Beaudelaire, the Goncourt brothers, Proust... Its main competitor will be the Petit Journal which appears in 1863.
