The United States Graphite Company likely operated graphite mines in the northeastern United States or Canada, regions rich in high-quality crystalline graphite. This blank certificate No. 62, dated to around 1890 judging by its typography and graphic style characteristic of the Victorian era, is one of the earliest numbers in the issue series. Its blank state (unfilled, unsigned) preserves it in a perfect original condition, allowing full appreciation of the artistic quality of the engraving and printing of the period.
