The Société Minière et Métallurgique de Maizières-lès-Metz, with a share capital of Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Francs (Two Million Marks of the German Empire), divided into 2,500 ordinary shares and 2,500 redeemable shares of 500 francs or 400 German marks each, operated the mines and metallurgical facilities of Maizières-lès-Metz. A historically very significant document: written in 1874, three years after the annexation of Alsace-Moselle by the German Empire following the war of 1870-71. The dual franc-mark wording bears witness to this transitional period.

This Bearer Ordinary Share, whose possession comes with all statutory rights and is fully paid up, is numbered 1646 and dated Maizières-lès-Metz, 21 March 1874. Sober grey-black typographic border in the 19th-century style, original signatures of the Supervisory Board (Lorberg, Eugène Imguez) and the Chief Accountant. Registered in the share register, folio 52. Printed by G. Fischbach in Strasbourg. A document of strong historical interest for enthusiasts of annexed-Lorraine scripophily, and more generally of 19th-century Franco-German metallurgy. Fair condition, legible document.
