The Rizerie Cattanéo merges with the Society of Rice Farms of the Midi, Bergasse & Francou in 1899 in Marseille.

It imports Indochina rice, which accounts for two-thirds of the value of the country's exports in 1913.

As Indochina exports mainly with China, the Marseille company turns to Madagascar.
