Father Boisard, engineer, industrialist and priest, founded the Boisard Learning Workshops in 1882 (now the Boisard Production School). The priest wants to offer young people training in a manual trade. He creates workshop-schools whose completed works will be sold. The first workshop will be a shoemaking workshop.

Two years later, a carpentry workshop was set up. The principle of production schools is launched. As early as 1895, the Lyon Academy recognized the "Father Boisard Workshops". With all coupons.
