The Société Française pour l'Exploitation de la Pile Système Million was a young Lyon company at the very beginning of commercial electrochemistry, operating a patent for an electric battery invented by Mr. Million. With a capital of 400,000 francs divided into 400 shares of 1,000 francs each, its head office was set at 61 rue de l'Hôtel-de-Ville in Lyon. Articles of association received by Maître Gustave Vacher, notary in Lyon, on 14 December 1892.

This fully paid-up Bearer Share of One Thousand Francs, numbered 322, is dated 7 January 1893 in Lyon. Printed in black on pale green tinted paper by Allior in Lyon. A sober Belle Époque border with geometric friezes, a red dry stamp with the Lyon coat of arms, original signatures of the founder and a director. Document clean despite some slightly fragile edges. A piece all the more interesting because the company does not seem to have thrived — these certificates have become rare. Sought after by enthusiasts of pioneering technological scripophily and the industrial history of Lyon.
