Cie Industrielle des Procédés Raoul Pictet
Share of 2500F - Paris
Raoul-Pierre Pictet (1846-1929) is a Swiss physicist at the origin of the first modern techniques of refrigeration, by liquefaction of nitrogen and oxygen. He received the Davy Medal and a gold medal at the Paris Exhibition of 1878.
He filed a first patent in 1869 then left for Egypt for the inauguration of the Suez Canal, where he planned to create an ice factory. He will stay in Egypt for several years.
Thanks to its patents for ice machines, Pictet went into business and in 1875, together with Théodore Turrettini, founded the company Raoul Pictet & Cie.
Then the company becomes the SA for the Exploitation of Patents Raoul Pictet.
Relations with its shareholders deteriorated and Pictet left for Germany to work for the Rudloff-Grübs company to which he assigned his patents. A Raoul Pictet Institute was founded in 1904.
