Formerly Sté Générale des Cinématographes Eclispe, the company was renamed Sté des Films Eclipse in 1918.

The company was the former French subsidiary of the English company Charles Urban Trading Company, S.A. founded in 1906 by Georges Rogers and Paul Roux.
