Etablissements Ch. Bancarel
Share of 100F - Paris 1924
Share of 100 francs issued in Paris in 1924.
In 1913, Charles Bancarel imagined a living room projector, the Solus, a competitor of the Pathé KOK. Sponsored by the Société Commerciale du Caoutchouc, Bancarel had a first series of machines built.
In 1913, the Société Commerciale du Caoutchouc registered the trademarks "Solus" and "Françia", another name used for the device when it was marketed by the Société pour la Propagation des Inventions Nouvelles.
Bancarel is also embarking on the distribution of films. In 1923, he bought the Union Eclair concession which distributed the productions of major foreign stars Sessue Hayakawa, Mildred Harris, Mae Marsh, as well as directors Maurice Tourneur and Albert Capellani.
In 1923, the S.A. des Etablissements Ch. Bancarel was created. Bancarel is also interested in sound and, in 1930, registers the trademarks "Le Disque Souple" and "Soupledisc".
