With stamp "Sté Immobilière Ancien Domaine Alice de Rotthschild"

Alice Charlotte de Rothschild (1847-1922) from the German branch of the Rothschild family, single with a strong personality, bought an olive grove in Grasse and had the Villa Victoria built there in 1888, in honor of the eponymous Queen.

In 1889, she provided the necessary funding for the canalization of the Foulon waters, essential for the irrigation of her estate. In 1888, the villa was connected to town gas and in 1891, was one of the first fifty telephone subscribers. The same will apply to the electrical equipment and connection to the sewer network.

It promotes the development of British tourism. She received all the European aristocracy there, including Queen Victoria in 1891.

On his death, the estate was donated by the universal legatee, Baron Edmond de Rothschild to the city of Grasse. But the maintenance of the domain being too expensive, the villa was demolished in 1929 and a hotel, the Parc Palace, was built there instead. Today it is a building known as the Palais Provençal.
