The purpose of the company was to use research permits in various fields located in the mixed municipality of Tablat (Algeria). The capital was 1,100,000 francs, in shares of 100 francs, including 2,000 shares to remunerate the contributions of the Banque Atlas, 43, rue Cambon, Paris, and the Syndicat Lyonnais Nord-Africain.

Lucien Boussand, a mining engineer, was at the origin of the Syndicat Lyonnais d'Exploration à Madagascar (1897) and its successor, the Syndicat Lyonnais de Madagascar (1907), focused on the production of gold and graphite.
