Order of the Fleur-de-Lys Certificate – January 16, 1815
First Bourbon Restoration – Kingdom of France
Important official certificate issued “In the Name of the King” during the First Bourbon Restoration and signed in the name of Charles-Philippe de France, then Colonel General of the National Guards of the Kingdom and brother of King Louis XVIII.
This document grants the Decoration of the Fleur-de-Lys to Cimonnet (Militia), born in Clermont in Auvergne, serving as a second lieutenant and secretary of the disciplinary council of the 11th Legion of the National Guard. The decoration was created in 1814 to reward loyalty and services rendered to the restored Bourbon monarchy.
The certificate is dated Paris, January 16, 1815, only a few weeks before the historic episode known as the Hundred Days.
The document features a rich engraved composition typical of early 19th-century official royal diplomas, including:
-
two winged allegorical figures framing the royal coat of arms with fleur-de-lys,
-
military trophies and symbolic ornaments of the Bourbon monarchy,
-
elegant calligraphic script and formal administrative layout.
Such decoration certificates are valuable historical testimonies of the Bourbon Restoration’s honor system and are sought after by collectors of historical documents, militaria, and French orders and decorations.
