Art Nouveau dates from the end of the 19th century. He was born in Belgium in 1893, a year marked by the inauguration of the Hôtel Tassel in Brussels, built by the architect Victor Horta.

Art Nouveau is characterized by a light design, with rounded and flowery shapes, promoting aesthetics, as illustrated by the title of the Compagnie Générale des Auto-Transports.

Famous artists of this period such as Félix Schmidt, Paul Cauchie, Catenacci or Mucha lent themselves to the design of Art Nouveau engravings. Many shares illustrated by Ch. Crabbe uses also Art Nouveau design.
