At the end of the 19th century, an urban planning operation aimed to create a new spa district, in the middle of a plain with a purely agricultural past. A public garden called Argelès-Gazost Thermal Park is located.

In 1900, the park was completed with the addition of a Grand Hotel. The thermal complex was then the property of the Société Foncière Hôtelière de la Vallée d'Argelès. Rich villas with gardens were built all around: Argelès became a real garden city. In 1937, the municipality acquired the thermal establishment. The construction of a casino bordering the park is being done in parallel.
