Company making the famous rubber "Mapa" Gloves, subsidiary of Hutchinson Company (today subsidiary of Total Energies).

Head office: 2 rue de Balzac, 124 avenue des Champs-Elysées, Paris.

In 1948, Robert Maret and Jean Paturel joined forces to create the first Mapa factory in Villiers-le-Bel, near Paris. They associate the first two letters of their names, and develop the first natural latex glove, dipped on a mold in the shape of a hand.

The purpose of the Hutchison company is to operate the Hutchinson factories, in Langlée, near Montargis (Loiret), in Puteaux, in Persan-Beaumont (Oise) and in Mannheim (Grand Duchy of Baden); the operation of auction houses in Paris, Mannheim and London. Hiram Hutchinson, an American engineer, obtained a license from Charles Goodyear in 1853 to distribute the brand. The factory is located in Langlée under the name of Compagnie du Caoutchouc Souple. The company then manufactures tires for cycles (Monofil) and coated canvas for airships.

In 1986, Hutchinson acquired Le Joint français (rubber) and Corduroy Rubber Company (automotive anti-vibration activity) then in 1989, Spontex.

In 1973, Hutchison and Mapa merged.

In 1997, Mapa and Spontex merged, bought in 2009 by the American group Jarden.

In 2008, the Mapa factory in Liancourt closed, manufacturing being relocated to Malaysia, a country renowned for its production of latex and rubber.
