Emile Gallé (1846-1904 Nancy), father of Charles Gallé, painter and dealer in earthenware and crystal, was a master glassmaker, ceramist and cabinetmaker, pioneer of Art Nouveau. Emile took over his father's activity and participated in several Universal Exhibitions in Paris and won prizes there. He also exhibits in Chicago, Munich, Frankfurt, London, Turin. He created the Ecole de Nancy in 1901. He founded Etablissements Gallé, which employed 200 people in 1900.
