The Blanchet sugar factory in the territory of Le Moule belonged to the Solange-Monnerot family until 1881, after being founded by the Blanchet spouses under the name of Tabacco. The latter resell it to a merchant named Louis Hérisson.

The residential factory, which became a large manufacturing plant, was then taken over by the Compagnie Marseillaise, whose statutes were filed in 1881 by René Monnerot. It was one of the most important sugar refineries in Guadeloupe.

In the grip of financial difficulties following the war and then the crisis of 1928, the company was declared bankrupt in 1932.
