The brothers Henry and René-Emile Bossière (signature on the share) set up a whaling station on the Kerguelen Islands, a breeding farm and coal mining there with Norwegians. They tried to import sheep that die in transit. As whaling proved unsuccessful, the Société des Îles Kerguelen ceased operations in 1913. Quickly, they also develop their activities on the islands of Saint-Paul and Amsterdam.

Saint-Paul Island is located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, on the way between Africa, India and Australia. On this island, the brothers Henry and René-Emile Bossière, dealers for the island, notably founded a lobster factory which operated from 1928 to 1931.

The brothers went bankrupt and both died the same year in 1941.
