Chemin de Fer de Paris à Sceaux S.A.
Share of 500F - Paris 1852
Share of 500 francs issued in Paris in 1846.
Company incorporated in 1845 with registered office in Paris, 15 Quai Malaquais.
It was one of the smallest railway lines in the Paris region, built in 1845-1846 starting from the Barrière d'Enfer (which became D'Enfert-Rochereau) and passing through Fontenay-aux-Roses and Bourg -the Queen.
The line was inaugurated in 1846 and was a great success, Sceaux attracting Parisians on Sundays to go to the ball in particular. The railway was operated using the articulated train cars of Mr. Claude Arnoux, a former student of Polytechnique and then an artillery officer under the First Empire. He imagined a system of transhipment of stagecoaches on flat cars of which the company (which gave birth to the articulated trains) had acquired the property. It allowed the convoys to leave without any particular maneuver.
Beautiful calligraphy and framing typical of the Louis-Philippe period.
